Fargo mum as Sacramento Police yank fifty percent of patrol cars off the streets for dicey cost cutting experiment

By Joe • Sep 3rd, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

sacramento police chief rick braziel and two face batmanWhere is Batman when you need him? Dark Knight anyone?

If there were ANY lingering doubts about Heather Fargo and company’s lack of commitment to public safety, I hope they have all been removed now.

In a JOLTING development, the City of Gotham Sacramento has decided to pair up OUR police officers and reduce OUR patrol car presence by 50%  over the next thirty days. Why? They claim to be hosting an experiement in an effort to cut costs. But some folks…

When the bullet hits the bone: 2008 summer in Natomas turning out to be a bloody one

By Joe • Jul 28th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

robbery natomas You scream, I scream, we ALL scream: “GUN!!!!”

Wonder if Fargo, Dickinson, and Marcos Breton’s super duper new anti-gang tax would have prevented any of these crimes?

I’m pretty sure all these new crimes reported by the PD all occurred in Natomas–or at least in that general vicinity. I have not included a slew of other crimes in Natomas like when the 20- something guy with the two year old toddler with him walked up and

A few virtual evenings with the brave men and women of the Sacramento Police Department - North Patrol

By Joe • Jul 21st, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

sacramento police department blotterThe following North Patrol calls were observed Saturday and Sunday night by a vigilant (bored? :) ) Joe Sacramento reader. Before I type another word, I have to say that while criminal activity can be heavy on the North Sacramento beat at times, I am extremely impressed by the work our police department is doing.

As you will see, police response times are

Despite police presence and arrests, even MORE armed robberies in Natomas this morning

By Joe • Jul 18th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

natomas crimeUpdated Saturday, July 19. In what is perhaps the most violent summer in Natomas history, two MORE violent crimes have been reported by Natomas victims, both committed early yesterday morning. These were not gleaned from a police email, these were reported by the Sacramento Bee this evening (thank you Sacramento Bee).

For those counting, the newest two armed robberies in Natomas bring the count to three within the past 48 hours, four if you count the one on Norwood to be…

Should we feel SAFE? North Sac and Natomas armed robberies continue in earnest with two “long gun” attacks

By Joe • Jul 17th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

crime in natomasRemember the Bee’s article in the days leading up to the primary mayoral election? “Crime fight: Who’s got it right, Johnson or Fargo?” Reporter Ryan Lillis started his Fargo-biased article off with “To hear Kevin Johnson tell it, Sacramento is a violent place.” He also quoted Fargo as saying “Citizens should feel safe..” (or some spin-doctored quasi double negative like “citizens should not feel unsafe..”)

How safe do us Natomasites feel right about now? Not very safe, Heather and Ryan. Two…

Fargo acknowledged concerns about city services last fall, dismissed as “unrealistic”

By Joe • Jul 7th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

Heather fargo breaks wind againI wrote about this in May, but it bears repeating given the recent burst of criminal activity in Natomas (and the crime that is certain to follow given the significant amount of low income housing in N Natomas–and more on the way in light of “very low income” construction in progress at Del Paso Rd and Blackrock Way, next to the city’s Charter School and Benvenuti Center for the Performing Arts).

In an interview with the Sacramento Bee last fall, Heather Fargo…

Eureka! Local paper finally discovers Natomas getting short end of night stick

By Joe • Jul 6th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

natomas violent crimeThe Bee ran another article on area crime today, this time on the number of cops allotted to each neighborhood, and how Natomas is clearly getting the short end of the night stick. Too bad it took a rash of violent crimes to awake them from their slumber. I just wish the Bee would have tied it all back to Mayor Heather Fargo’s naivety about crime, and the city council’s failure to provide adequate police presence to an area filled…

Former Sacramento Police Detective rips current department captain over Natomas crime issue

By Joe • Jul 5th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

This letter appeared in the Sacramento Bee today, July 5, 2008, in response to the paper’s article about the rash of home invasions and robberies in Natomas of late. It was written by a retired Sac PD detective.

Not impressed with the captain
Re “Crime spike raises fears,” July 1: I almost fell out of my chair after reading this article by Ryan Lillis. The Natomas area of Sacramento has had 30 home invasion and street robberies since the beginning of June. Now…

Cops, press, city officials and KJ meet with Natomas residents to talk crime

By Joe • Jun 30th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

Updated: 13:15 - additions in blue

I went to Inderkum High in Nomas tonight to attend the public safety meeting called to address the rash of home invasions and armed robberies terrorizing the community at present.

The good news is that it was so packed with cops, residents, press, and even members of the Guardian Angels, that people had to stand out in the hallway and listen without line of sight. The bad news is that a good 25% of the…
