There she goes, there she goes again.. ripping her colleagues and employees for the budgetary chickens that finally came home to roost last night when Police Chief Rick Braziel announced even more cuts to the city’s already slashed and looted…

Throughout this election season, Sacramento voters have been bombarded with lectures, stories, blog entries, speeches, mailers, press releases, and even bumper stickers touting which mayoral candidate is the true Democrat, as though the title were some sort of regal honor that will determine the outcome of the election. Do voters even care? I sure don’t. I care about issues;  not race, not gender, not stance on gay marriage and DEFINITELY *NOT* whether the candidate worships an elephant or a donkey.

Do you hear that flushing sound? That’s the sound of thousands of Sacramento taxpayer dollars being flushed down the drain again.

Two weeks and untold dollars later, The City of Sacramento (OUR city of Sacramento), has released Police Chief Rick Braziel’s “Final” memo regarding his department’s investigation of a teen’s allegation of hand-sliding against Kevin Johnson. The title of the document says it all: “Johnson_Final_Memo.”

Today the Bee announced Robert Lee Drumgoole will be running as a write-in candidate for the mayoral election. Drumgoole was smart to wait until the last possible day. Otherwise he probably would have been running with Kevin.. for his life.

While Sacramento may have grabbed an 8th place award for livable cities, the election season bloopers we’ve witnessed in recent weeks definitely won’t win us a best screenplay award to go with it. Voters have stood by in awe, watching Fargo and supporters fling mud pie after mud pie out of her city hall bunker in hopes of hitting KJ squarely with one, and the word is: Most people think they’ve all been duds. Truly, the only noise battle-weary voters…

Yesterday I banged out a spirited rant about the local newspaper’s Fargo-favorable rebuttal to KJ’s crime claims. In my diatribe, I pointed my binary pen at the local newspaper, as well as Heather Fargo and the Police Department for dismissing concerns about public safety (Police: “citizens should feel safe”; Fargo: “Citizens should not feel unsafe”; Newspaper: “To hear KJ tell it Sacramento is a violent place”).
