Despite police presence and arrests, even MORE armed robberies in Natomas this morning

By Joe • Jul 18th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

Updated Saturday, July 19. In what is perhaps the most violent summer in Natomas history, two MORE violent crimes have been reported by Natomas victims, both committed early yesterday morning. These were not gleaned from a police email, these were reported by the Sacramento Bee this evening (thank you Sacramento Bee).
For those counting, the newest [...]

Should we feel SAFE? North Sac and Natomas armed robberies continue in earnest with two “long gun” attacks

By Joe • Jul 17th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

Remember the Bee’s article in the days leading up to the primary mayoral election? “Crime fight: Who’s got it right, Johnson or Fargo?” Reporter Ryan Lillis started his Fargo-biased article off with “To hear Kevin Johnson tell it, Sacramento is a violent place.” He also quoted Fargo as saying “Citizens should feel safe..” [...]

It’s Homecoming night in Natomas for Mayor Fargo, police, school officials and residents

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video
Hopefully Mayor Fargo’s meeting tonight at the Homecoming condoplex with Natomas residents  will be more encouraging than the one shown here, videotaped by youths in nearby Kokomo Park and uploaded to youtube.com in the past year.
Along with Mayor Heather Fargo, representatives from the school [...]

Sacramento Police swarming Natomas at all hours, but so are troublemakers

By Joe • Jul 14th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

The good news is that Sac PD is out in force in Natomas where they are clearly needed, and responding to calls in record time as this report reflects. It only took them 3 minutes to get to Natomas Park Place (where the Jamba Juice robbery I reported about last week took place) to field [...]

Start snitching: Time for Sacramento mayor Fargo and council to help community fight delinquency issues

By Joe • Jul 10th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

It’s 10pm, do you know where your kids are? Apparently a lot of parents do not, because Sacramento has a crime problem. No, scratch that. Sacramento has a juvenile delinquency problem, and hence a crime problem.
Elk Grove has the same problem. But unlike the City of Sacramento, where the out-of-touch mayor spends more time traveling [...]

Fargo acknowledged concerns about city services last fall, dismissed as “unrealistic”

By Joe • Jul 7th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

I wrote about this in May, but it bears repeating given the recent burst of criminal activity in Natomas (and the crime that is certain to follow given the significant amount of low income housing in N Natomas–and more on the way in light of “very low income” construction in progress at Del Paso Rd [...]

Eureka! Local paper finally discovers Natomas getting short end of night stick

By Joe • Jul 6th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

The Bee ran another article on area crime today, this time on the number of cops allotted to each neighborhood, and how Natomas is clearly getting the short end of the night stick. Too bad it took a rash of violent crimes to awake them from their slumber. I just wish the Bee would have [...]

This letter appeared in the Sacramento Bee today, July 5, 2008, in response to the paper’s article about the rash of home invasions and robberies in Natomas of late. It was written by a retired Sac PD detective.
