Progress penalty: Sacramento Mayor Fargo and Council want to tax text messaging

By Joe • Jun 19th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

Fargo and city council penalize technology useIn light of the anti technology ideas spilling out of city hall, you would never know incumbent mayor Heather Fargo is the same progressive visionary her campaign spin doctors have presented her as in recent months.

If there were any questions about the Fargo-led Sacramento City Council’s aversion to technology and progress, their latest shenanigan attempting to pick more tax dollars out of the pockets of inflation-embattled Sacramentans for text messaging (of all things), should remove all doubt.

Did you know the council…

MonopoBee to eliminate 86 jobs

By Joe • Jun 16th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

The Sacramento Smear Bee has announced it will lay off 10% of its work force in an effort to cut costs. If you’ve been reading my blog since its inception you may recall an article I posted about three weeks ago titled “Is the Sacramento Bee engineering controversy to sell newspapers? Duh.”

OK, I am not claiming to be clairvoyant, but my unpopular opinion about the Bee’s tabloid-style election coverage, and speculation about it being driven by plummeting readership, seems to have…

KJ’s dunk impressive, now time to get back on D?

Kevin Johnson does an end zone danceIs the champagne premature?

Despite being 3 percentage points shy of a clean victory, and apparently unfazed by statistical facts stating he would need an odds- defying—but theoretically possible—64% of the uncounted vote to win the Larry O’Brien award of Sac politics, Kevin Johnson all but declared himself the victor of Sacramento’s 2008 mayoral election yesterday.

Joe Sacramento Endorses Kevin Johnson for Mayor

By Joe • Jun 2nd, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

Kevin Johnson the mayor of SacramentoI originally started this site on my own volition as a rebuttal to the 447 smear campaign against Kevin Johnson, someone I believe to be a very good man with a very good heart who—by his own admission—used bad judgment at one point in his otherwise extraordinary career.

You can talk all the garbage you want about my site, but at the end of the day, the 447 Union (and their sneaky partners), likely spent well in excess of $150,000 to…

In Sacramento, citizens don’t run for mayor, they run FROM mayor

By Joe • Jun 2nd, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

Kj literally RUNS for mayor

Today the Bee announced Robert Lee Drumgoole will be running as a write-in candidate for the mayoral election. Drumgoole was smart to wait until the last possible day. Otherwise he probably would have been running with Kevin.. for his life.

Sacramento mayoral election marred by blunders on both sides, BUT…

By Joe • Jun 1st, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

While Sacramento may have grabbed an 8th place award for livable cities, the election season bloopers we’ve witnessed in recent weeks definitely won’t win us a best screenplay award to go with it. Voters have stood by in awe, watching Fargo and supporters fling mud pie after mud pie out of her city hall bunker in hopes of hitting KJ squarely with one, and the word is: Most people think they’ve all been duds. Truly, the only noise battle-weary voters…

Rejected! Sacramento police will not re-open investigation of ex NBA all star Johnson

By Joe • May 28th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

In defiance of Sacramento Mayor Heather Fargo’s  wishes, Sacramento Police Chief Rick Braziel announced today he will NOT re-open a 16 year old young woman’s [retracted] “groping” allegation against Fargo’s arch political nemesis, former Phoenix Sun all star, Kevin Johnson.

A former teacher at Johnson’s St. Hope Charter High School had alleged in 2007 that the teen told him (during a camping field trip in Yosemite) that Johnson had touched her breast. When the young lady was questioned by police, she retracted her…

Hatchet job or Hatch Act? Sacramento Mayor Fargo may have broken federal law

By Joe • May 27th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

Hatch Act 1939 Laws Against Abusing OfficeOn May 22, 1992, Mr. Johnny Carson appeared on the tonight show for the last time. Exactly sixteen years later, on May 22, 2008, Heather Fargo may have held her last performance as well. That was the day our entitlement-minded mayor announced from our city hall building that she was demanding the Sacramento police department redirect resources from investigating real crimes to investigating her opponent, Kevin Johnson. Her reasoning? If a crime had been committed on “her watch,” she was obligated…

Sacramento Residents Disagree With Fargo on Definition of “Progress”

By Joe • May 18th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

Joe Sacramento took to the streets today to have a look downtown and talk to citizens. Joe talked to 15 residents, and without exception we found all of them categorically disagree with Fargo’s definition of “progress” (a word stamped on her campaign signs).

Here is a sampling of how residents responded to our question: “Heather Fargo says Sacramento has seen a lot of PROGRESS since she has been mayor. Do you agree?”

“You can’t drive more than a mile downtown without shaking…
