What YOU can do
||||||||||||||||||| IMPROVE YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
- Abandoned house? Weeds everywhere? Cars on blocks? Call 311 from your AT&T, Metro PCS or Sprint Nextel phone to report problems in your hood to the city. Between the hours of 8-5pm Mo-Fri city people staff that line and will connect to you to the correct department supposedly.
- Neighborhood watching. Sacramento Police Dept says most crimes are solved with citizens’ help–especially burglaries. What can you do? Get video surveillance if possible. Fry’s has systems that are very affordable. Installation is only about $150.
- Read the 2030 General Plan for our city and your neighborhood. The general plan is a blueprint for the city’s future, authored by our elected officials. You can even send survey feedback about it to the city as long as you do so before July 31, 2008 (whether anyone will read it remains to be seen)
- Sacramento General Plan
- Resident Survey (your feedback to City about plan)
- 12 ways to improve your neighborhood (excellent document on Steve Cohn’s web site)
- Know the Sac Police Department’s personnel and patrol captain for your neighborhood
- Hold the police accountable for patrolling your neighborhood.
