Note: I had a petition up on petitions.com and there were approximately 50 signatures when someone challenged its validity on the basis the author was anonymous, and petitions.com had to cancel it. I will be posting another petition after the election in November is over.

Ray Tretheway is the council person for district 1. He is a nice, affable guy and he enjoys shaking hands and showing up to community events and snapping pictures with residents and their families. He has done some nice things for Natomas. He is a decent human being, and I believe he cares about people. I appreciate Mr. Tretheway’s service to the community.

BUT..

He is no longer the right person to lead a district as diverse as District 1, which houses more low income housing than most other areas in Sacramento, and is plagued by high crime and and major neglect on the part of the city. While Tretheway has done nice things and shown up at events and won awards for being a good tree planter, like Heather Fargo, he is COMPLETELY OUT OF TOUCH with the community’s true needs and would be much better suited for a job with the, e.g., EPA, where he wouldn’t need to deal with the big city problems Natomas is now facing due to its status as dumping ground for all of the city’s socio economic experiments. Ray Tretheway couldn’t even deliver the promised rec center and police sub station residents have paid for.

I believe Ray Tretheway cares about people. He just doesn’t know how represent a community as diverse as the one he is accountable for. He is a deer in the headlights in this position and someone who is more PROACTIVE, forward-thinking, COMMUNICATIVE, TUNED INTO THE COMMUNITY’S DIVERSE DEMOGRAPHIC, youthful, energetic and passionate to help this community reach its potential should be at the helm. Otherwise, in this Natomas resident’s opinion the community will continue to erode until it is too late to fix it..
