By Joe • Aug 12th, 2008 |I spend a lot of time writing about stuff I care about. I thought I’d change it up and share a list of things and people in the news I wish I didn’t have to hear about..

New Yorker Magazine does an Imus and claims cover cartoon of Obama-Osama only harmless parody
By Joe • Jul 15th, 2008 |
ROFL. Hahaha! Relax. Stop getting so defensive! It’s just a cartoon. It’s a joke, you idiot! So says liberal New Yorker magazine in response to outrage over its COVER cartoon portraying the Obamas as Al Qaeda sympathizers in the Oval Office, grinning and knucking it up, as the American flag burns in the fireplace behind them, and satan hangs on the wall stoically.
“Haven’t white people made enough jokes about black folk? 400 years aint enough jokin for yall? Talk about…

Chuck D of Public Enemy is arguably the greatest rap artist of all time–at least in this observer’s opinion. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s, the “Rebel without a pause” Chuck crafted some of the most blistering word assaults on conditions in America since the 1960’s peace movement. Of the voluminous library of sound bytes that…

By Joe • Jul 9th, 2008 |
When Obama said “Change we can believe in,” I don’t think he had THIS in mind.
Strange but true, Rainbow Coalition architect Jesse Jackson may have knocked himself out of the circle of trust for a season or three after an open mic captured him whispering his desire to “cut [Obama's] nuts off..” for the way Obama has–according to the good rev–been talking “down” to the black community on

AMW is one of my favorite shows (surprise!). I stood a few feet away from John Walsh when he and his film crew came to Sacramento a few months ago to film the segment on the NorCal Rapist who struck in Natomas Park in 2006. Mr. Walsh is an extraordinary citizen, and his compelling show has done miracles for public safety.
But one aspect of the show that has troubled me for a while is the fact that almost every time the producers…

By Joe • Jun 26th, 2008 |
Today it is being reported that California has jumped on the lawsuit bandwagon, and officially filed suit against the Goliath of mortgage brothels, one Countrywide Bank, for what it calls deceptive practices in lending. The state accuses The Country (ahem) of lowering its lending standards to sell homes to any old Tom, Dick or Mary with a pen and hand to use it.
So let me get this right: With this lawsuit (on behalf of thousands of foreclosed consumers), is California…

By Joe • Jun 25th, 2008 |
Even through the thick smoke the flowers still smell lovely. Asiatic Lillies are my favorite. I bought a gorgeous budding bouquet for my wife at Raley’s over the weekend.
In the midst of one of the worst recessions ever, with no end in sight to the drought, the 800+ fires raging in CA at this moment, sky high gas prices, soaring budget deficits, and unchecked crime plaguing neighborhoods throughout Sacramento, I thought I would take a breather to highlight some positive…
