Joe and fellow outraged Sacramento residents hit the streets of South Natomas.. and get an earful
By Joe • Oct 31st, 2008 |Updated 11:14pm - Oct 31. ‘08
I had today off. I ended up working anyways. I headed over the freeway to South Natomas with three South Natomas residents, including District 1 city council hopeful John Dahilig. We spent a good three hours video-interviewing anyone who would talk to us, from the Natomas High area to the Bel Air Shopping Center, and everywhere in between… including the South Natomas Community Center, where efforts are well underway to build the $1,000,000+ play structure…

Happy Halloween, Sacramento!Looks like it’s going to be a damp one. May the make-up run and the candy stay dry! Answer to the best of your knowledge. Ghoul luck!
1. Before they joined the illustrious ranks of the city council, South Natomas neighbors Heather Fargo and Ray Truthaway successfully sued the city of Sacramento on behalf of their neighborhood association to stop urban sprawl in their community. Trick or Truth?
2. Ray Truthaway is the executive director for the Sacramento Tree Foundation…

By Joe • Oct 27th, 2008 |In my estimation the real victors tonight were the voters, thanks to the superlative work of debate moderators, Edie Lambert and Gulstan Dart–especially Edie. I was already a fan, but I have even more respect for her after this debate. Edie posed explicit questions to Johnson, and then pressed him to elaborate on his answers, which left little room for evasiveness or generalizations. The moderators (and viewers), also made it clear to Johnson–I think much to his surprise, in all…

By Joe • Oct 27th, 2008 |
I’m pleased to announce a new nickname for oft maligned Sacramento City Councilman, Ray Tretheway: Slim Shady! And man has he earned it. Will the real shady ray ray please stand up, please stand up, please stand up… looks like he finally has…
Natomas residents are hissing mad over Tretheway’s spur-of-the-election-moment proposal to bring a much needed fire station to West Natomas residents at the expense of over $60 million in already-signed, sealed and delivered infrastructural projects (including the fabled North…

By Joe • Oct 26th, 2008 |Update: if you have any issue watching the video, watch it on Youtube.com here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKGHvSQuGU0.
I spent some time downtown today with lifetime Natomas resident, Navy veteran, and Sacramento City Council District 1 hopeful John Dahilig. The purpose of our venture was to find out what kind of impact the claims and words of Heather Fargo and Kevin Johnson are having on every day Sacramento residents.
This is part 1 in a series of segments John and I will be shooting together…

Winding down a long, long week of all work and no play–which I hope is not making Joe a dull boy..
Fargo claims Johnson’s plan for Sacramento is a fake
Camp KJ began mailing his “40 point plan for Sacramento” out to voters today. When sitting mayor Heather Fargo was asked about it, she dismissed the plan as a “copy” of her ideas already in play. When reporters asked Johnson what he thought of the mayor’s comments, he said, “I like the…
No free lunch? The comedy hour at Sacramento city hall is still free of charge every Tuesday night
By Joe • Oct 22nd, 2008 |
Updated 10/23/08 @ 10:40am.
When Eric Hogue asked me on his Capitol Hour radio show last week if I thought the council could be salvaged, I was optimistic. I opined the council might have a chance with a quality leader. Oops. I stand corrected. It’s going to be a long two years with this comedy troupe in charge. But one thing’s for sure, not everyone will be laughing..
If you didn’t make it out to last night’s council meeting, you…

“Mayor Heather Fargo called the [police] cuts [announced by Chief Rick Braziel] ‘outrageous’ and ‘unacceptable’ .. She said there were other things the department should consider cutting, like white collar crime investigations and ‘officers out on New Year’s chatting with each other’..”
There she goes, there she goes again.. ripping her colleagues and employees for the budgetary chickens that finally came home to roost last night when Police Chief Rick Braziel announced even more cuts to the city’s already slashed and looted…

By Joe • Oct 17th, 2008 |
Eric Hogue has graciously invited me to appear on his Capital Hour radio program at 12:10pm today. 1380 on your AM dial. While the radio station is conservative, I find Eric’s rugged, grass roots views refreshing, and think his voice is a very important part of the dialog that should be occurring between Republicans and Democrats for the common good in Sacramento.
Just yesterday the Bee quoted Eric as stating he felt Craig Macglashan should step down for the repugnant Obama images…
