AKA: Where are all those jobs?

It’s tax time again and there will be ‘no bartering’

I received a letter in the mail from an accountant. It was a very friendly form letter listing a variety of tax services. I decided to email the guy and see how much he would charge to do my S Corp and personal taxes. In my email I suggested a mutually beneficial arrangement whereby I could do some work for him in exchange for his services… being that he doesn’t have a website and all. His  first response was terse. His second was bizarre. Thought I’d share for grins and giggles..

Me: “Hi Leonard (not his real name). I Got a letter from you in the mail.  I have an S Corp.  I do web development and consulting. I keep my books in Quick Books Pro. Itemized deductions. Need corp, fed and state taxes done. I’m also open to bartering (I could build/work on your website if you need any web or graphic art services). Either way, please get back to me with your fee schedule asap.  Best, Mark”

Leonard: “No bartering. The fee for the S Corp would be 450 and the 190 for the long form.”

Me: “Hi Leonard! Nice to meet you too! :) Ok thanks for the info, Mark”

Leonard: “Thanks have a nice Sunday. I am a football fan so I enjoyed Indy beating the Jets which was predictable but the Saints Vikings game will be harder to call, Leonard.”

Oookay. Back to customer service training, Leonard!

And happy tax season, Sac Town  :)   Can’t wait til mine is over!
