Just thought I would make good on my promise to Casey Kirk of Sacramento Press. Casey emailed me and said she had removed a comment of mine from an article about how the economy had impacted local small businesses. I posted a comment stating we (small businesses) really need to help andpatronize each other as much as possible. I added that if anyone needed web development or graphic design to email me at joejoesacramento at gmail dot com and I would work within their budget.
Casey emailed me and stated my self promotion was in violation of SP’s comment policy. I replied back “So much for helping each other, huh?” in good fun of course. I also invited Casey to come promote SacramentoPress.com anytime on my site free of charge. I’m glad to help drive traffic to the Sacramento Press site.
Now, is it just me or do they seem a little uptight over there at SP? A week or so earlier Casey emailed me to inform me another one of my comments there had been removed because by using the term “playing grab ass” to describe how Robbie Waters and Robert King Fong rudely talking to each other on the council dais (while a member of the public was speaking) I was suggesting homosexual relations between the two men… ?? I can not make this stuff up.
Anyway, the Sacramento Press is a GREAT web site for local news and regardless of their gestapo commenting policies they are a great asset to Sacramento (PS: Casey I didn’t mean anything by using the word “asset” here I promise–I truly love your site!). And yes I know Casey is just ‘doing her job.’ And a damn fine job at that!
Of course this is all in good fun..

IMO the SacPress comment policy sets the standard for local n ews sites. I recently had a comment pulled, becaused I referenced someone else’s comment that Kevin McCarty a douchebag. When that comment was pulled (as it should have been) it made sense to pull my referencing comment too.
I find this a very refreshing upgrade from the random & bizarre SacBee comment policy. At least SacPress tells you why. I can’t tell you how many SacBee comments have been pulled just for not being on the right end of the political spectrum. No reason, no feedback. SacPress should be commended!
I still think they are a little uptight
I think they are VERY uptight. It is a pretty descent site as long you are aware that there is a good probability they will be editing or removing your comment.
They firmly believe in free speech, as long as it’s theirs
. I’ve posted there on more than one occasion and the post contained no advertisements, no foul language, but I did disagree with the author. I received an email stating that due to my political views my comment was being pulled.
For tech and photography, I’ll stick with my site LifeBlended and for local news and politics I’ll stick with JoesSacramento!
Good to see you Vern.
I received a message the other day saying one of my comments was pulled for advertising. I had mentioned my blog by name as part of an inquiry how to participate on the site.
Funny thing is, I posted that comment MONTHS ago and have since posted a couple things and joined an advertising network coordinated by SP.
Just seemed silly to get the message.
Hey Buzz you just violated my advertising policy. Please remove your name, link to your website, and reference to your blog or I will do it for you. Last warning.
Hehe!!
OOPS! Guilty!
