What the religious-fanatics continue to use as their reason for blocking legally recognized homosexual unions is the “sanctity of marriage” nonsense, as well as the “procreation” nonsense.

Yes I know that. I have written about that, too. But this article was not about that. It was about something else.

First of all, the divorce rate for heterosexual marriages is ridiculous. Essentially one out of every two heterosexual marriages end up in divorce. Sanctity is a religious term, meaning holiness or godliness. Basically it boils down to commitment. In religious terms you are committing yourself to God. With the divorce rate so high in this country, marriage really isn’t that sacred then it is?

I have said this many times. I agree with you. I have stated this on the Bee even prior to the election. How you gonna try to call marriage sacred when you yourself are divorced? It's hilarious.

Secondly, the procreation argument is nonsense since not all human beings are homosexuals. And even if we were, there is something called “science” that has allowed homosexual woman to be impregnated and give birth. But that is beside the point. Let the heterosexuals procreate, and if lesbians want to procreate, then they have that option as well.

Well, I don't know about "nonsense," because I find SOME degree of validity in nearly every argument (it's never good to sumarily dismiss anything), but I see your point

Bottom line is homosexuals have every right to legally marry as heterosexuals. Until a heterosexual can say that we are perfect, our divorce rate is zero, our infidelity rate is zero, we are perfect parents, our children are perfect, etc., then we don’t have a leg to stand on.

I say let them marry. God will judge them .. with the rest of us...

Mark, I see where you are going with this article, however I think you are missing the boat. If homosexuals weren't fighting so hard for equal rights when it comes to legally recognized unions, then the religious-fanatics who are leading the opposition would essentially just treat them like freaks and that would be that. What the religious-fanatics continue to use as their reason for blocking legally recognized homosexual unions is the "sanctity of marriage" nonsense, as well as the "procreation" nonsense. Here is why neither fly:

First of all, the divorce rate for heterosexual marriages is ridiculous. Essentially one out of every two heterosexual marriages end up in divorce. Sanctity is a religious term, meaning holiness or godliness. Basically it boils down to commitment. In religious terms you are committing yourself to God. With the divorce rate so high in this country, marriage really isn't that sacred then it is?

Secondly, the procreation argument is nonsense since not all human beings are homosexuals. And even if we were, there is something called "science" that has allowed homosexual woman to be impregnated and give birth. But that is beside the point. Let the heterosexuals procreate, and if lesbians want to procreate, then they have that option as well.

Lastly, the constitution provides for certain unalienable rights that shall not be infringed upon and that all men are created equal. If you want to take the literal term that "all men" are created equal, then gay men would have equal rights. If you want to take it philosophically, then "all men" would mean all men AND woman. I don't remember ever reading in the constitution the term "all heterosexual men" or "all rights in this document don't apply to homosexuals".

Bottom line is homosexuals have every right to legally marry as heterosexuals. Until a heterosexual can say that we are perfect, our divorce rate is zero, our infidelity rate is zero, we are perfect parents, our children are perfect, etc., then we don't have a leg to stand on.

P.S. I am a heterosexual male.
