When the bullet hits the bone: 2008 summer in Natomas turning out to be a bloody one

robbery natomas You scream, I scream, we ALL scream: “GUN!!!!”

Wonder if Fargo, Dickinson, and Marcos Breton’s super duper new anti-gang tax would have prevented any of these crimes?

I’m pretty sure all these new crimes reported by the PD all occurred in Natomas–or at least in that general vicinity. I have not included a slew of other crimes in Natomas like when the 20- something guy with the two year old toddler with him walked up and pulled down a teen girl’s top outside the apartments on River Plaza Drive. This is just the CSI stuff…

(243118) South Natomas - Armed Robbery - 7/28/08 @ 11:20 am, 606 W. El Camino (Baskin Robbins)
Suspect entered the store with a cloth over his face. he was armed with a gun, took money and left. Suspect was a Male black adult (30’s, 5-7,)

(240256) South Natomas - Attempted Murder - 7/25/08 @ 10:02 pm, 846 Rancho Roble Wy (Natomas Point Apts)

3 Suspects became involved in an altercation with the victim (25 yrs. old) who was visiting his Girlfriend who lived in the apartment. The altercation ended with the victim being shot in the head. He was transported to the hospital and is going to live. The investigation is ongoing ….

(240510) South Natomas - Multiple Shooting - 7/26/08 @ 1:37 am, 1620 W. El Camino (Cheers Bar)
End of the night as people were being pushed out of the club a fight broke out. A Subject pulled out a gun and began shooting. 3 people were hit (victims were 22, 29 and 38 years old). One was shot in the torso, one in the leg and the last victim was shot in the foot. The suspect was stopped outside the city limits shortly after the shooting and a stolen gun was recovered. He was booked on several charges including stolen property, possession of the gun, assault with a deadly weapon and the gang enhancement. The suspect was 21 years old. One of the victims lived in Natomas, but the other victims and suspect do not live in Natomas. We will be talking with Cheers Management soon.

(242631) South Natomas - Altercation/Weapon 0- 7/27/08 @ 10:02 pm, 1375 Garden Hwy (Crawdads), Weapon
Officers responded to a fight call in the parking lot. As officers arrived, they observed the suspect walking away- as he was walking he threw a gun. They recovered a gun from this suspect - he was arrested on a weapons charges. We will be talking with Crawdads soon also.

Whose fault are all these crimes? I give up. Ideas?

  1. Wtf? The Cheers shooting sounds like something that happened in a Detroit ghetto! And the Baskin Robbins at 11am? Holy Natomas I am so moving

  2. Not even sure what to say. It’s insanity. Guns guns guns guns guns guns. Don’t blame Fargo. Blame society. Blame the gun makers. Without guns these $#%@%^@ punk mopther $#%$@^%@ would nmot be so ballsy

  3. Mother of handgun violence, what the–? This punk shot 3 people?? At Cheers?? Are you sure this is Natomas in California where this happened? As in Fargo’s neighborhood Natomas?

  4. I give up too Joe. It’s tiring isn’t it? And it feels hopeless with Fargo and Tretheway running the show. I am strongly considering moving.

  5. Yes, Lauren. It is very tiring. Sometimes I don’t even know why I am doing this. I too feel like the situation is hopeless at times. This city government is a nightmare. While Fargo was traveling the world the violence was climbing beyond LA and Stockton. And she didn’t have a clue. That seems so fundamentally wrong to me. I was sick to my stomach at the community meeting when people actually c h e e r e d her. Absolutely pathetic. Yes moving is an attractive idea, but this rela estate slump is holding a lot of people hostage. Seems like Natomas homeowners should be pardoned from their loans because A) The levee situation (being lied to about the health of the levees and flood protection); and B) Fargo and her gang’s 15% low income experiment that is going horribly wrong. Many of us are NOT “eating Natomas up.” Many of us are hostages here now.

  6. Who said Natomas wasn’t the hood again? Was that you Joe? I’d say your sacred Natomas is definitely tha hood bro

  7. Behold sumbags! I have come to save you all from the gangbangers destroying your neighborhoods! Fear me! Bow down and worship me. I don’t need sugar. I am not your neighbor. I am your daddy kiddies!!!!

  8. Should have a right to carry for all law abiding citizens. This kind of crap happens a lot less when the perps wonder, does he or doesn’t he or she????? Wake up ultra libs…It is time to follow the Constitution….

  9. Bretonator! LOL. Okaaaaay Bretonator.

  10. I would think after a while businesses in Natomas would have to be pissed about this continued run of violence in the area. Who in their right mind would want to go out after 10 p.m. in Natomas with all that’s been going on lately? I sure don’t. And Danny Farty used to enjoy the nightlife as much as the next guy…probably more. I just have to figure that business suffers because of this. Talk to the Cheers people. I can’t imagine people are flocking there to drink after hearing that three people were shot there last week.

  11. Wait til you read a Natomas crime victim’s story I’m going to be posting soon. Brace yourself

  12. Ok, enough of the gloom and doom “this is Detroit, the sky is falling” comments. Look at the nature of the crimes. Several of them were domestic disputes (which happen just as frequently in Eldorado Hills I notice) and bar/alcohol related (which happen just as frequently as in Napa at Raiders Training Camp). Only one of the crimes really qualifies as a “metro” type crime and that can happen in any city. Do we have a problem? Yes. But no one is going to solve domestic disputes and fools drinking short of divine intervention.

  13. Thanks Joe, for opening my eyes. I feel like I’ve just taken the red pill. Having just moved to So. Natomas, I couldn’t have discovered your site a second too soon. Personally, I’m so much more aware of what’s going on in the neighborhood (also thanks to Fernando), the Natomas area, and the City at large. That awareness is power - so I refuse to feel like a hostage. Anyway, ignorance was blissful, but thanks for enlightening me. Please keep doin what you’re doin (I’ll be sure to stay tuned for the victim’s story, as much as I’m terrified to hear it).

  14. I never started this web site to scare anyone. That was not my intention. I started this site to provide a rebuttal to the attack on KJ, and to expose the Fargo mayorship after she arrogantly painted her record as impeccable “without a whiff of impropriety.” Those were the words that ignited the Joe Sac web site. I am sitting here in Natomas, surrounded by crime and low income housing, paying extra taxes for city services the city has not delivered, and paying exorbitantlyMORE for home insurance because the city did not do its job and tell me about the true condition of the levees before I purchased my home, and this mayor is saying her record is flawless?

Had she hung her head in humility and say she blew it, I would have been a huge fan. But she didn’t. She said she was flawless then relentlessly pursued and DEGRADED her opponent. I STILL get hot thinking about this. The NERVE.

Anyhow, I believe my original goals have been accomplished without question.

Now the site is evolving, people are contributing, agencies are following through on ideas posed here, and so forth. All good. But I will continue to write from my own perspective, with my own choice of attention grabbing headlines, and with a commitment of FULL DISCLOSURE on what is going on in our community whenever I possibly can, unfiltered, uncut and at the risk of being labeled a “cynic” by small-minded journalists who don’t celebrate the diversity of opinion and the freedom of speech.

    Thanks for your support.

  15. Yes, Joe…it was H. Fargo’s claim to be without fault that got me riled up as well. From the very first day of the campaign, she has smeared and chastised Kevin J. for many things but tried to dodge any responsibility for having messed up our area of town. She and the other leaders in Natomas had one plan, but they scrapped it for something hodge-podge and dangerous. We can only speculate on what the motive for leaving the original long-term plan for Natomas was, but most people speculate it was money and influence that lead her down that road. We can only hope our next mayor will set short-term satisfaction aside in favor of long-term wisdom.
