A few virtual evenings with the brave men and women of the Sacramento Police Department - North Patrol

sacramento police department blotterThe following North Patrol calls were observed Saturday and Sunday night by a vigilant (bored? :) ) Joe Sacramento reader. Before I type another word, I have to say that while criminal activity can be heavy on the North Sacramento beat at times, I am extremely impressed by the work our police department is doing.

As you will see, police response times are stellar in the North area, and in many cases officers arrived on scene within minutes. In one case, a N Natomas business (in Target Center) silent alarm was tripped, and an officer was already in that same parking lot, arriving on scene within seconds. Another thing that is apparent is how well officers work together between air, ground and dispatch. I am told their communication is fluid, efficient, team-oriented, enthusiastic and consistent at every turn.

A few important notes and disclaimers:  While I have cleared the posting of this list with Cpt. Daniel Hahn of North Patrol and Sgt. Matt Young, these calls have not been officially confirmed or edited for accuracy. They have been transcribed by a citizen. Therefore, NO ONE has validated the accuracy of this list.

In addition, due to the nature of how quickly the calls come in and how fast the dispatcher talks (which I hear can be like a blur sometimes), it is very possible that in some cases the details of one call may be inadvertently mixed with those of another.

So, in sum, NO ONE makes ANY guarantees about the accuracy of this report whatsoever.

Also, please do NOT call the police department for further details on these calls unless you are a material witness and/or can help them solve a crime. In those events, PLEASE call North Patrol at 916-566-6401. If the list ends up generating a bunch of calls into the PD asking for more details, I will stop reporting it here.

Two more things:  All names, case details, addresses, personal info, conversations between officers, etc have been omitted as a courtesy to the victims and the police department. Also, there were multiple reports of parties, loud music, and other disturbances the police responded to that have not been included here.

Oh, and thank you Mr. Fernando V. for this list. Much appreciated.

  1. I LOVE THIS! Thank you Joe. Your site gets better every day. Also, thank you Sac PD! Keep up the great work!!!!!!

  2. We are seeing improvements daily with Rick B at the helm. He is forging the kind of police department every city desires and he should be commended for that. Kudos to you Joe for giving the Sac PD the praise they deserve for their stepped up efforts.

  3. It amazes me how much is going on out there while I am sitting at home peacefully watching DVD’s with my family. You hear the sirens, you wonder what they’re up to, but you always shrug it off because there is no way of knowing. I saw the cop cars racing down Honor Parkway in Regency Park after the shotgun incident you reported. I had no idea what was going on. It was great to find out here. Thanks for doing this.

  4. Anybody know why ghetto bird was over 47th street and golf course yesterday? Cops everywhere.

  5. I am the one who sent this list to Joe. I monitor all the city freqs. 47th street call had to do with report of some guy out on the runway at exec. airport shooting a gun. Air1 came into assist and guided ground units to intercept the guy as he approached Bing Maloney golf course on foot. They did apprehend the guy but I do not know what happened after he was custody ( if they took him to jail)

As Joe said, it is amazing how well the Sac PD works together. I listen to them constantly and I think they are awesome.

    Thx

    FV

  6. Fernando thank you for your work.I am sure it was time consuming

  7. You’re welcome. My pleasure.

  8. I was wrong about you Joe. It is obvious you are one of the good guys. Thanks to you and your contributors for keeping us all informed. I find this service to be very valuable and I am sure many others do as well. Keep it up

  9. Drama in the LBC! Are you sure the guy wasn’t monitoring Long Beach or something? Del Paso Heights sounds like liberty city in grand theft auto!

  10. @Fernando,

Thanks for keeping it real man, people need to know what are men and women in uniform are really doing for the community.

  11. Thanks, Florida! I could not agree more. There is not NEARLY ENOUGH exposure of police work to the community. The city of Portland, OR, leads the way by allowing The Oregonian newspaper to have ALL police scanner chat LIVE on its web site 24/7 (and their violent crime rate is far lower than Sacramento’s). I want to put my name in the hat right now to be the source for police scanner live in Sacramento if this city goes the same route at some point. I will gladly host the live scanner feed and cover all related expenses as a service to the community. Let’s do it. Call me.
