Team Far-away suddenly concerned about Natomas crime.. after police plan meeting with residents

Fargoand tretheway stinking up NatomasMan, I don’t know whether to rejoice or LMAO about Fargo and Tretheway’s sudden election-season interest in Natomas public safety. Yesterday I received an email from Captain Daniel Hahn stating the Sacramento Police Department (note: THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, not city leaders) wished to meet with residents about the rash of home invasion armed robberies in Natomas. It stated:

“The Natomas (both North and South) community/neighborhood associations and the Police Department will be hosting a community meeting on Monday at 6:30 pm regarding the recent rash of Home Invasion robberies and street robberies.”

Note: the email says nothing about Mayor Fargo or Councilman Ray Tretheway’s involvement in this excellent idea. But alas, by the end of the day I had another email with a flier stating Mayor Heather Fargo and Natomas district councilman, Ray Tretheway, would be “hosting” the Police-initiated meeting at Inderkum high school at 6:30PM Monday evening.

Wait. I thought the Sac PD and neighborhood associations were going to “host” it? How did this happen? I thought rose-visioned Fargo and Tretheway only made it out to N Natomas to grin for the cameras when, e.g., new Rose Gardens opened (where they mugged for the camera–I had an image of it, but N Magazine would not give me permission to use it :pouting:). What are old “people-tell-me-they-are-eating-Natomas-up” Tretheway and “People-should-feel-safe” Fargo doing hosting a community forum on CRIME of all things??

Hmm.

My HYPOTHESIS is the Police Department (probably Cpt Hahn if I were a betting man), hatched the plan to open dialog with the community, but when team “FAR-AWAY” got wind of it they most probably called the chief and demanded involvement. And the worst part? Infamously opportunistic Fargo will probably tell us in an upcoming debate with KJ that hosting this meeting is an example of her commitment to public safety and open dialog with the community! (Rest assured I will have this article at the ready if that happens).

I don’t know about other Natomas residents, but I am not happy about the Far-Away bullshit-patrol crashing our COMMUNITY meeting with police. Anyone who follows the local news knows their loyalties are with the downtown partnership and elsewhere, not “ugly” magazine-unworthy Natomas. I do not consider either one of these people my neighbors (South Natomas is NOT my neighborhood), nor do I find their sudden interest in our safety sincere by any stretch.

I will reluctantly attend this meeting and somehow tolerate these “hosts” posing as “leaders,” and their deer-in-the-headlights-naivety posing as sincerity. But these two absentee politicos should know this before they make the trip out: No matter what they say in this meeting, they will NOT sway my vote for mayor or my perception of them. Fargo’s time is UP, and Tretheway needs to be recalled for allowing N Natomas to become the dumping ground for low income housing (and other socio-economic experiments), and at the same time not absolutely ensuring it had the amenities and police protection to support them (which homeowners are paying extra for in supplemental taxes).

So come one, come all. These “leaders” should have to answer for the inevitable crime problems that will be a huge part of living in Natomas for years to come. They should have to answer for that. God knows they don’t answer their emails.

  1. Word.

  2. Joe, Joe, Joe–
You clearly don’t understand that they will be coming to tell us all that we are very safe. Don’t you feel safe? Fargo said we’re safe… you should just trust her. Why are you asking so many questions anyway? Wasn’t it better when she said we’d be safe and happy and you believed her? It’s not like we live in a flood prone, unprotected, foreclosure and mosquito infested, dangerous, anti-public transport, hoodlum filled park kind of neighborhood. This is North Natomas afterall, the crown jewel of our city! And public safety is Fargo’s number one concern.

I guess Captain Hahn didn’t get the reelection memo… I wonder how long he’ll be allowed to continue to reach out to the public before he gets vanished off to some desk job.

  3. I was JUST thinking that today about Hahn. How much you wanna bet they will shut his emails down soon? Also, we need to start calling Tretheway to task. He is every bit as much to blame as Fargo for N Natomas ills.

  4. I requested an “add” to Capt Hahn’s emails and have not received any. Maybe I’m not important enough or don’t make a loud enough noise (as most of our residents, who remain silent, and clueless).

Um, make sure you lock your doors while you’re at the meeting.

  5. He didn’t respond to my first three emails requesting to be added either. Not sure what the deal is. But I am going to forward your request. Yes, note to self: Lock doors, set double barrel shotgun motion detector in living room.
