Home invasions and residential armed robberies plaguing Natomas

By Joe • Jun 24th, 2008 | Bookmark and Share

Any euphoric politicians willing to go on record and say we Natomas residents should still feel “safe”? Broad daylight is evidently no longer a crime deterrent in this age of $5 per gallon gas (or milk). Add two more home invasion/armed robberies to the growing list of those taking place in what Mayor Heather Fargo calls “New Sacramento” (us residents living over here call it plain old “Natomas” or “The New South”). The two home invasion crimes today happened in Westlake and Natomas Crossing. The previous two were in South Natomas. And the two before that were in Natomas Park and Gardenland.

Criminals are doing these crimes in the morning and afternoon now. Hopefully we can get some undercover police in and around Natomas to start catching them This is unacceptable for residents paying an extra supplemental tax increase for more police protection. Thank God we have a true civil servant in Captain Hahn at the North Substation who genuinely cares about making our neighborhoods safer. More from him below these listings. I have confidence he and his troops will bring these jerks to justice—>with the public’s help.

(203946) 6/24/08 @ 1:40 pm, Home Invasion Robbery, 4000 block of Innovator Dr., (Natomas Crossing)
Victim came home and parked in her garage and entered her house. She thought she closed the garage door when the suspect (male black adult) confronted her inside her residence. He hit her (minor injuries) and fled with the victims purse.

Thank you to Capt. Daniel Hahn for providing this information via email. More from Cpt Hahn..

Update on Home invasions on Brynmar Ct.(6/4/08) and Turnstone Dr. (6/7/08).

These are the two robberies where the suspect attempted to force the victims back into their cars. The possible vehicle descriptions on these robberies are as follows:

1. Chevy Suburban, Silver with dark (possibly black) on the lower portion on the sides (ie two toned - silver over black).; 2. 2000′ish Chevy Trailblazer - Gold colored.

Keep an eye out for suspicious acting people and vehicles. We are following up several possible leads on a lot of these robberies and can always use tips on suspicious acting people and cars. If you see cars wondering the neighborhood acting suspicious or subjects in the neighborhood that are up to no good - call us at either 911 or 264-5471. Also, get license plates on cars and pass them to us. Any thing (even if it looks little) might help us catch these guys and stop this rash of armed robberies. Obviously there are other suspects out there outside of the 4 we caught this past weekend - we will catch them - hopefully very soon!!

  1. It is not looking good for Natomas. Y’all got the “element” there now. And they are like weeds. Once they take root..

  2. The only way we’ll fix this is two fold: Get on your politicians’ backs and get out of your house! We need to make a fuss, complain, scream and yell. Call the mayor’s office every day. Email the Bee and ask why they aren’t reporting any of this?

Continuing to just hide in our houses isn’t going to make us any safer. Obviously, they’re just coming in our houses now.

Do you know your neighbors? Do you know who is home all day, who is a single mom, who has a military spouse on active duty?

Take your chair and your big glass of iced tea and go sit on your porch. Talk to everyone who goes by. Make note of the cars that belong. Talk to the teenagers hanging out on their skateboards. Make yourselves obvious. You have to make time to make the neighborhood safer.

  3. Great points.

But I believe there is a 3rd option, too: Keep posting all the crimes occurring in Natomas on our sites for the whole world to see. The internet is a very powerful tool for spreading the word, and we need to exploit it for all it’s worth and ensure the city can not get away with their dirty little secret that is Natomas crime.

I don’t know about you, but I am not going to let them get away with stacking all the region’s low income housing in my backyard and then only giving us minimal police protection.

We need to go 100% at all three options and DEMAND they give us the protection and police presence we need for this volume of low income housing
