An exorbitant amount of air and print time has been devoted to smearing Kevin Johnson’s character, while Mayor Fargo has been able to sit in the bleachers with a bag of popcorn, watching the circus unscathed, her record as mayor not even in question.
This is unacceptable, isn’t it? Why isn’t the Bee and local TV/Radio scrutinizing Fargo’s performance for the past 8 years? Is our local media that lazy ? Are they only interested in the low hanging fruit? Sure seems like it.
Residents deserve a balanced look at all candidates, particularly the secretive incumbent who uploaded the new budget to OUR city web site without even so much as a fart to let us know there was a pile of doo-doo in the foyer. Squish.
I’ve been scolded and told the following list is my own responsibility to research. Is it? Or is it the media’s since they are doing the digging on other candidates, but not Fargo?
- Where is Heather’s attendance record?
- Where is her voting record? We want to see her voting record.
- What is going on with the North Natomas Financial Fund proceeds that were promised to North Natomas residents? This article suggests the City may return $36 million to developers? Could this be right? Natomas Buzz article.
- Where are the disaster preparedness instructions from the city for residents in the Natomas Basin? I own a home in Natomas Park and have yet to receive anything from the city.
- Why in 2000 did Fargo promise J, K, and L streets would be cleaned up quickly, yet they’re all still a mess?
- How did Fargo get away with spending $44,000 in taxpayer money to travel 124,000 air miles in search of “green ideas” only to come back and recommend in the State of Downtown Address that residents should “switch to fluorescent bulbs and walk more” to reduce emissions? It is reported many of her trips were for sight seeing. ERK! This allegation should be investigated by authorities, not the Bee. Why has this been swept under the rug? Tampering with public funds is a grave offense if that is indeed what has happened.
- How is Heather Fargo able to get away with saying our crime problem can be attributed to “immigrants”? or that her “style is more friendly to women than men” ? If she was in the private sector she’d be fired on the spot for these outrageously prejudiced statements, wouldn’t she?
- Why is Heather Fargo being allowed to even request public resources to open a cold case file? We the public do not authorize this expenditure.
- Why isn’t the local media rifling through Heather Fargo’s closet?
- Are voters aware that Fargo is on record as saying more homeowner tax supplements will be necessary to fund public safety augmentation? Natomas residents are already paying for extra police, yet we’re still waiting for them to arrive.
Do these seem like legit questions to you? If not, why? If yes, why aren’t they being asked? Are we ever going to raise the bar and demand a higher quality of living in our city? I am confounded by the number of Fargo supporters who are happy with absentee mayor who has been collecting a $110k salary for traveling the world.

I would like to know more about how we got to be $58 million in debt. Can we the voters see some sort of explanation as to where all this moeny was spent? I realize the mayor is not in charge of the wallet - but shouldn’t she have a look at the bank statement? Maybe she or the city council could have caught this when we were a mere $10 million in debt.
There was a poster who left a comment here telling me how I should do the research on Fargo myself. I accidentally deleted the comment. Honest. Anyways, this poster was a Fargo friend or Fargo herself. Of course it’s easy for them to say to do the research on Fargo, when all the Johnson research has already been done for them.
