- FUN WITH FLIP FLOPPING FARGO: “I think there has been a shift in public concern,” Fargo said of her recent embrace of more anti-crime strategies after saying in the earlier primary campaign that her constituents hadn’t brought up crime as an issue. “Frankly, I think it’s partly changed with the people because Johnson kept talking about crime. I don’t think it’s helped to tell people to be afraid like this is Oakland.” -22JUL08 (Fargo needed residents to tell her the city was the second most violent in the state and STILL thinks the only reason there is a “problem” is because KJ scared people!!”)
- “Fargo and other city officials now say they made some mistakes in designing Natomas. In retrospect, Fargo said, the city should have required developers to spread out the affordable housing, rather than building apartment complexes, many of them grouped near one another.” Bee article about Natomas crime problems
- “Green light for downtown sounds cool, and when we talk about green today we are talking about green for the planet and green for your wallets and green lights for GO! I WANT TO ASK YOU TO HELP MAKE THIS ***THE*** AGENDA FOR SACRAMENTO.” -Heather Fargo opening statement at her 2008 State of Downtown address.
- “”Check out the image galleries on Mayor Heather Fargo’s portion of the City of Sacramento’s web site: The Mayor in Alaska, The Mayor in Dublin, The Mayor in Japan, The Mayor in Jerusalem, The Mayor in China… the only one that is missing is THE MAYOR IN SACRAMENTO” - Joe

Light Bulbs or Dim Bulb?
Fargo missed 135 days of work and 16 city council meetings in the past two years not ill, but TRAVELING! Guess what her environmental recommendations were in her State of the Downtown address on greening the city after traveling 124,000 miles over two years in search of smog killing solutions? I quote Bee Article “Fargo advised citizens to walk more and get rid of incandescent light bulbs.” Doh! Graham Brownstein, executive director of the Environmental Council of Sacramento said, “She seemed so completely detached about the reality of the scope of challenges we face with global warming, that it was almost beyond comprehension. That’s all she learned from those conferences? Light bulbs?”Flip-Flopper or Schizophrenic?
Our esteemed mayor has a degree in Environmental Planning and Management, yet she cites her greatest mayoral accomplishment as adding 5.5 MILLION SQUARE FEET of brick, mortar and stucco to the Sacramento landscape.State of Natomas - The REAL State of Natomas Address
Here’s the state of Natomas: plagued by excessive crime, too much section 8 housing, too many warehouses in the middle of town, high school in the middle of town and loitering kids roaming strip mall and parking lot with never any cops around, 80-100mph motorcycles racing up and down Del Paso Rd., nothing for kids to do, Fargo and council will not support a rec center, parks left unfinished, weeds all over the place, abandoned housing projects like the Natomas Meadows now board’d up and surrounded by chain link fence in the middle of town, no pedestrian walk ways, not enough bike access…..![]()
Why Sac Crime is on the Rise
Blaming the real estate debacle for the up-tick in violent crime is a slippery slope with little merit. Crime has been increasing steadily in the area for a decade (long before the housing market crash). In Sac alone crime has increased 50% since Heather Fargo took office 8 yrs ago. She attributes the city’s heavy crime to the fact that we “have a lot of immigrants,” but experts would not agree with that discriminatory “logic” either. Furthermore, in spite of the economy’s twists and turns, Los Angeles crime has declined for about a decade now, as has Fresno and other cites. So why is Sac area crime on the rise? Many believe it is because our city leaders have focused our resources (human and capital) on development instead of infrastructure (which includes public safety). In other words, public safety has been deprioritized in recent years. Now more than ever, we need to shift our collective focus from development back to public safety. We need new leaders to do that. -joesacramento.com
